Yeah, it was pretty downhill from there. At the time I (and I’m sure others) went along with it because the rest of 2 was pretty damn good. Hell, everyone managed to over look the fact that no gun in the galaxy needed to reload in the first game, due to the tech used, and then SUDDENLY all guns required reloading in the next game. I mean, the entire GALAXY switched up how ALL of their weapons worked in a matter of what, a year? I mean, seriously. Was there any reason given for this? Nope. It just fit the aesthetics they wanted and made the game more “actiony”, so retcon’d without mention.

There are a lot of other strikes against the second game, story-wise, that I don’t really feel like diving into. Suffice to say, some of them make choices made in the first game seem kind of arbitrary which defeats the purpose of the title. This is further compounded in the third game which practically ignores the first two games aside from subtle nods that are, more or less, inconsequential to the story and game as a whole. It’s no where near as bad as the promise that feel through, story wise, with Dragon Age but it still makes me grind my teeth all the same.

Long story short; Bioware is fumbling hardcore, and has been for some time now. They are not the only company, an I really can’t think of a single game company that hasn’t in recent time. Game companies are getting extremely lazy in many many ways and there seems to be little in the way of stopping them as those unhappy with things are in the minority.

The only Escort Mission I liked was Yoshi’s Island… Though, it did have the drawback of listening to Baby Mario cry.

I would rather play through the friggin’ Water Temple than escort anyone/anything.

Grown? Yeah, grown. You see, it was made of tiny gundamiu cells that had the ability to respond to a central nervous network and rearrange themselves into any shape. By absorbing raw materials, the gundam could grow to any size and have operational control over it's entire mass.

It was also an incredibly formidable opponent, repeatedly defeating the entire cast of gundams (although some of them sucked) until the ending, where it really only relented because its pilot and the hero were brothers.

During that series, iirc the hero nor its pilot were identified as Newtypes. It was only a regular man, driven insane by the pressure of a thinking, living Gundam with infinite combat potential. Had there been a pilot of, say, Heero or Amuro's stature at the helm, I can't say that any other mobile suit sounds as horrifying on paper.

As far as I know, there were no New Types in Sentinel. Also, Sentinel is over the top in terms of it’s technical side. The Gundams and Mobile Suits featured are treated more like military weapons than they are Mecha. So the fact that something so monstrous as the Ex-S Gundam exists in a Gundam series that went for more technical “realism” is mind blowing.

I will admit that the Devil Gundam is bad ass, but it wouldn’t be a match for the “Deep Striker”. In fact, I don’t think anything is. The Devil Gundam comes close, but it’s also part of a rather ridiculous Gundam series. A closer match would be Wing Zero Custom, but still not close enough.

I’d like to see a battle between all three as I know for a fact there would be nothing left. Nothing left of anything.
